Our Trust Seals:

A short move is not automatically a simple move. The two addresses may be only a few miles apart, yet an elevator reservation, gated entry, narrow driveway or distant loading area can add more work than the drive itself. Premier Movers plans local moves around the inventory and access at both properties rather than treating every Jacksonville relocation the same. Our local movers in Jacksonville, FL can help with apartments, homes, offices, selected rooms, and single items. You can choose moving-only support or add packing and specialty services to create one coordinated plan.

What Counts as a Local Move?

A local move generally means a relocation within Jacksonville or between nearby Northeast Florida communities that can be handled through a short-distance moving plan. The exact service boundary and pricing method should always be confirmed for the two addresses provided.

Local moving may include:

  • Moves within the same Jacksonville neighborhood
  • Moves between Jacksonville and a nearby community
  • Apartment-to-apartment relocations
  • House and townhome moves
  • Office or small-business moves
  • Moves within the same building or property
  • Single-item and selected-room moves

A move to another Florida region may need a long-distance moving plan instead. Share the full addresses when requesting an estimate so the right service can be recommended.

Had a great experience with Premier Movers. They came highly recommended from a friend who has used them for multiple moves. Communication before the moving date was great. Everything went smoothly on moving day. They carefully wrapped everything, and did a great job getting everything set up in our new place. Hope I don't have to move again anytime soon, but would definitely hire them when I do.

Jacob and Chance were absolutely fantastic! Their service was efficient, quick, and incredibly friendly from start to finish. They worked like a well-oiled machine and made everything smooth and stress-free. If I could give more than five stars, I definitely would! Highly recommend this crew!

Premier Movers were GREAT. From first contact to move completion was 72 hours. It was a HUGE RUSH over a HOLIDAY WEEK! I am so grateful for the excellent service. I was unable to be onsite! Premier Movers had to set up the pick up and the delivery via their driver and helper. It is amazing to me how very smooth it went. You just do not see this level of professionalism these days.

5 stars

One of the best moving companies we have ever used and we have moved 23 times around the country. They were on time, careful with our furniture and made sure we were comfortable with everything they moved. They moved our hot tub very professionally. They had all the tools and equipment necessary. We couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you so much!! We will use you again!! Highly recommend to everyone!!

5 stars

We had the pleasure of working with Jacob, Jacob, and Nas for our recent move. I couldn't recommend them more! Hiring movers is stressful and it's awkward to have random people in your home handling all of your belongings but these three really made the experience less stressful and relieved the awkward feeling quickly. They were friendly, professional, and extremely efficient!

5 stars

Premier Movers is an honest company. Everything they said they would do they did. True to their word. The price they gave was exactly what was given to me. No surprise charges. The movers Noz and Chance were respectful to my belongings and worked very hard. They came on time as well. Moving day was stress free! I will definitely use them again when I relocate.

Which Local Moves Can Premier Movers Support?

Apartments and Condominiums

Apartment and condominium moves often depend on property rules. You might need to reserve an elevator, protect common areas, provide a certificate of insurance, or use a designated loading entrance. Be sure to ask management about deposits, moving hours, and parking before choosing the date.

Houses and Townhomes

House moves can involve garages, upstairs rooms, patios, and several exterior areas. Include grills, outdoor furniture, storage shelves, and garage contents in the inventory. Long driveways, low branches, and limited curb space should also be reported.

Offices and Small Businesses

A small local business move still needs a labeling and placement plan. Workstations, files, and equipment should be organized by department or destination zone. Larger or phased projects are better planned through our commercial moving service.

Single-Item and Specialty Moves

In our experience, clients often need one large item moved rather than an entire property. Provide dimensions, weight information, and access photos before booking. For instance, a safe or hot tub requires its own handling and equipment review.

What Should Be Included in the Estimate?

The approved estimate should identify the services and responsibilities clearly. Depending on the scope, a local move may include:

  • Moving labour
  • Loading, local transport, and unloading
  • Furniture, blankets, and agreed protection
  • Basic disassembly and reassembly when specified
  • Room-by-room placement
  • Additional packing or unpacking support
  • Specialty-item handling
  • Storage coordination, when arranged

Note that packing materials are a separate cost when packing service is added. Make sure to ask how materials will be itemized and whether customer-supplied cartons can be used.

Which Jacksonville Access Details Can Change Moving Day?

Access affects labor even when the travel distance is minimal. Report these details before the estimate is final:

  • Elevators and stairs: Include the floor, reservation window, and distance from the unit.
  • Parking: Confirm whether the vehicle can stop near the entrance.
  • Gates: Provide codes, passes, or guard instructions.
  • Long carries: Note courtyards, garages, interior hallways, and distant loading zones.
  • Narrow routes: Measure doorways, stairwells, and turns for oversized furniture.
  • Surface conditions: Report steep driveways, pavers, gravel, grass, and uneven paths.
  • Building restrictions: Ask about approved hours, insurance documents, and common-area rules.

These details are especially important in apartment-heavy areas such as Baymeadows and in gated or planned communities around St. Johns and Nocatee.

What Affects the Cost of a Local Move?

Local moving prices should be based on the actual job rather than a broad online range. Cost factors can include:

  • Number of movers and estimated labor time
  • Amount and type of furniture
  • Number of packed cartons
  • Stairs, elevators, and long carries
  • Distance between properties
  • Packing labor and materials
  • Specialty items
  • Disassembly and reassembly requirements
  • Access delays or restricted moving windows

Finishing the agreed packing before the crew arrives and securing access at both addresses can reduce avoidable waiting. Make sure to be as precise as possible about the inventory, because missing rooms or large items may change the labor and equipment required.

How Can You Make a Local Move More Efficient?

  1. Confirm building access. Reserve elevators, loading areas, and gate entry.
  2. Finish the agreed packing. Opening cartons and loose contents slows loading and increases damage risk.
  3. Label by destination room. Use the same room names at the new property.
  4. Separate items that are not moving. Place them in a closed room or clearly marked area.
  5. Clear pathways. Remove shoes, décor, small furniture, and loose rugs from the route.
  6. Prepare keys and access codes. Keep them with the customer rather than inside a packed carton.
  7. Confirm destination placement. Decide where large furniture will go before unloading begins.
  8. Review the weather. Prepare a covered route or floor protection when rain is expected.

The National Weather Service Jacksonville office provides local forecasts and alerts. Checking the forecast shortly before the move is more useful than relying on a long-range prediction made when the date was booked.

Local distance does not remove the need for a destination plan. Placement decisions made before unloading can save repeated furniture movement inside the new property.

What Should You Do With Items That Are Not Moving?

Most moves include separate donations, disposal items, and belongings that will stay with the property before moving day. Make sure not to mix them with the shipment.

Jacksonville’s household bulk collection follows current city rules and schedules, so you can always check the official bulk collection information before placing furniture or large items outside.

For weekday moves, 1–2 weeks of advance notice is usually sufficient. For weekend or month-end moves (especially at the end of the month when demand peaks), 3–4 weeks ahead is recommended. We do hold same-day and next-day slots when availability allows — call us to check.

Yes, when we have crew availability we can accommodate same-day and next-day local moves. Call us directly and we'll check our schedule. Last-minute availability tends to be better on weekdays than weekends.

Local moves are typically defined as moves within the same state and under 50–100 miles. They're priced hourly. Long-distance or interstate moves are priced by weight and mileage. If you're moving within Jacksonville or Duval County, you're looking at a local move.

We recommend having someone present at both the pickup and delivery locations. However, if that's not possible, we can work with a trusted representative on your behalf. Talk to your move coordinator ahead of time to make arrangements.
